Al Ahly and Zamalek’s Champions League and Confederation Cup Rivals Determined

The draw for the Round of 64 of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup was held on Saturday evening, August 9, 2025. The draw also determined the path of the clubs exempted from this round to the Round of 32.

Egyptian club Pyramids FC holds the CAF Champions League title, while Morocco’s RS Berkane holds the Confederation Cup title.

Egyptian club Al Ahly, the most decorated club in the Champions League, will participate in the African Champions League, while Zamalek will participate in the Confederation Cup for the third consecutive year.

As for Al-Ahly, they will not participate in the Round of 64 and will face the winner of the match between Club Aigle Noir (Burundi) and ASAS Djibouti Telecom (Djibouti) in the Round of 32.

Reigning champions Pyramids will face Rwanda’s ARS in the Round of 64.

The first preliminary round matches will be held in September, while the second preliminary round matches will be held next October.

Zamalek, who are in the Confederation Cup, are exempt from the Round of 64 and will face the winner of the match between Dekedaha of Somalia and Al-Zamalek of Sudan in the Round of 32.

The first leg of the Round of 32 is scheduled to take place from October 17 to 19, 2025, while the second leg will be held from October 24 to 26.
