Al-Ahly succeeded in reaching the CAF Champions League final for the fourth time in a row, after achieving a broad victory over Mazembe 3-0 in the second leg of the semi-final at Cairo International Stadium.
The Red Giant’s hat-trick came through Mohamed Abdel Moneim in the 68th minute, then Wissam Abu Ali in the 83rd minute, and finally Akram Tawfiq in the final moments of the match.
The Egyptian club will set up a date with Esperance, which caused a major surprise by eliminating Mamelodi Sundowns from the semi-finals, by beating them in the first leg in Tunisia 1-0, and in the first leg in South Africa 1-0 as well.
The match between Esperance and Sun Downs at Loftus Versfeld Stadium was stopped after 22 minutes due to a rain storm, then it resumed and “Makshakha” succeeded in winning with a goal from Wissam Bouchnaiba in the 56th minute.

For the second consecutive edition, the CAF Champions League final will be held in a home-and-away format, after 3 editions from 2020 to 2022, which were held with one match in a neutral stadium.
The first leg will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2024, at the Hamadi Al-Aqrabi Olympic Stadium, known as “Rades”, the stronghold of Esperance.
As for the return match, it is scheduled to be held at Cairo International Stadium, in the presence of 80,000 spectators, as is usual, on Saturday evening, May 25, 2024.

What is the history of the confrontations between Al-Ahly and Esperance in the CAF Champions League final?
This will be the third final between Al-Ahly and Esperance in the history of their confrontations in the African Champions League.
The first final was in 2012, and ended in a positive draw in Burj Al Arab 1-1, then Al-Ahly won in Rades 2-1.
As for the second final, it was in 2018, when Al-Ahly won the first leg 3-1, and lost the title in the second leg to Esperance after the hosts prevailed 3-0.
