Arsenal received a new shock, this time in the winter Mercato, after it was confirmed that the dream deal that Mikel Arteta wanted in January failed.
The English media had previously reported that Arsenal had completed its agreement with Wolverhampton striker Matheus Cunha, and all that remained was to agree with his club to complete the deal.
Cunha was seen as the player who could compensate for the long absence of Bukayo Saka on the one hand, and on the other hand he would solve Arsenal’s crisis of lacking an influential striker.
But unfortunately for the Gunners, the Wolverhampton management moved in the past hours and offered to renew the Brazilian striker, who actually agreed to the matter.
The 27-year-old preferred to continue with the Wolves at least until the end of this season, especially since the English club increased his salary and promised to allow him to leave in the summer in the event of a big offer.
Arsenal appear to be turning to other attacking options as their technical poor form continues to show in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Brighton in the Premier League.
It should be noted that Cunha has scored 10 Premier League goals for Wolverhampton this season.
