The Athletic network reported that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez personally intervened and is leading the negotiations to renew the contracts of the duo, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.
According to the report, Modric agreed to a significant reduction in his salary, and also accepted to play a secondary role in Carlo Ancelotti’s list next season in order to extend his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu for another year.
The negotiations between the two parties are progressing very positively, and reaching an agreement is very close, and perhaps it is a matter of time before the renewal of the 39-year-old’s contract is announced.
As for Kroos, the German star has not yet made his final decision to retire or continue for another year, but things coming from the 34-year-old’s camp are very promising.
Kroos’ family, led by his mother, demanded that the player continue for another year on the field, and the German is currently inclined to accept Real Madrid’s offer and renew his contract until the summer of 2025.
