Manchester United’s management has yielded to Cristiano Ronaldo’s opinion regarding the club’s Carrington training facility, and approved a comprehensive revolution with a massive investment of up to £50 million.
In his 2022 interview with Piers Morgan, which led to his departure from United, Ronaldo said that the club’s facilities were very old and outdated, and that this did not help the players at all and was one of the main reasons for the Red Devils’ failure to win titles and compete with the top teams.
Although Ronaldo was subjected to severe attacks at the time and was considered to be belittling his club, United’s new management, led by Jim Ratcliffe, realized the truth of the Al-Nassr star’s words and launched a campaign to implement them.
The Times newspaper reported a massive project to develop Carrington and make it fit for the modern era, including the construction of a new swimming pool and modern spa facilities, along with a comprehensive renovation of the fitness, sports medicine, nutrition, and recovery rooms.
The project also includes the construction of the first barbershop within a Premier League training center, with an open design and spaces that foster collaboration between players and coaching staff.
United has enlisted the help of renowned designer Norman Foster, whose firm previously designed with Lucille and participated in the redesign of Wembley Stadium. The Manchester-born entrepreneur promises that the club’s new project will be one of the most important catalysts for football success and create a culture of collaboration and belonging.
