Nicolas Jackson will play next season at Bayern Munich after the Bavarians succeeded in convincing Chelsea to sign the Senegalese player on loan.
The English club had canceled the deal two days earlier following Liam Delap’s injury, while the player refused to return to England and insisted on moving to Bayern Munich.
After much drama and complex negotiations, Bayern succeeded in securing the player on a one-year loan for €16.5 million (up from the original agreement of €15 million).
At the same time, the contract included a purchase option for €65 million, and Chelsea added clauses that would convert the option to a mandatory purchase to ensure the player’s continued presence at Bayern Munich and prevent him from returning to Stamford Bridge next year.
The 24-year-old will earn €14 million with Bayern Munich, more than double his previous salary with Chelsea, which explains his strong desire to move to the Bavarian giants, in addition to other sporting reasons.
