The “FIFA virus” has taken hold of Paris Saint-Germain’s stars, and the French club has lost more than one player during the first round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Europe.
Ousmane Dembélé left the France-Ukraine match due to an injury, and then Désiré Doé also suffered an injury during the same match.
The two players underwent the necessary tests on Saturday, which revealed that Dembélé will be out for at least six weeks (a month and a half), while Doé will need a full month to recover and return to action.
Dembélé’s injury, in particular, sparked a crisis between PSG and the French national team. The club warned the team that the player had a calf injury and needed rest, but coach Didier Deschamps paid little attention and played him against Ukraine, only to exacerbate the injury.
Luis Enrique’s squad will miss the duo during a busy period of major matches, as it has been confirmed that Douay and Dembélé will not participate in the Champions League match against Barcelona, scheduled for early October.
The duo will also miss the Ligue 1 matches against Lens, Marseille, Auxerre, and Lille, all of which are difficult matches, as well as PSG’s Champions League opener against Atalanta at the Parc des Princes.
