A renowned coach rejects Manchester United job

Manchester United attempted to recruit a prominent coach to succeed Reuben Amorim at Old Trafford, but he responded with a firm and immediate refusal.

According to the renowned journalist Nicolo Schira, United’s management contacted Al-Hilal coach Simone Inzaghi to explore the possibility of him moving to Old Trafford and taking charge of the English club.

Inzaghi didn’t hesitate to reject the English offer, emphasizing that he is currently focused solely on his role with Al-Hilal and that he and his family are happy in Saudi Arabia.

Inzaghi earns an astronomical salary exceeding €20 million annually in Saudi Arabia, and his contract with the Blue Wave extends until the summer of 2027. It is impossible for him to earn the same salary in Europe, nor would the Saudi club allow him to leave mid-season.

The Italian coach is currently leading Al-Hilal to the top of the Saudi Professional League standings and the AFC Champions League group stage, in addition to reaching the semi-finals of the King’s Cup.

Inzaghi boasts a distinguished coaching career, particularly in Italy, starting with Lazio and culminating in his time at Inter Milan, where he led them to the Serie A title and two Champions League finals.

He was previously on the radar of several major European clubs, but Al-Hilal ultimately secured his services last May and have no intention of letting him go anytime soon.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are reportedly considering appointing either Ole Gunnar Solskjaer or Michael Carrick as interim manager until the end of the season, after which a permanent replacement will be appointed. Oliver Glasner is currently the preferred candidate for the Red Devils’ management.
