Lionel Messi led his team, Inter Miami, to an important 3-1 victory over Nashville in the first game of the MLS playoffs, which will determine the MLS champion.
Messi was crowned the top scorer in the MLS in his first season after scoring 29 goals in 28 games, and on Saturday morning, he began his most important journey to win the first championship in Inter Miami’s history.
Messi scored two goals in Nashville’s first game, and the first was a rare goal in the Argentine’s career, coming from a brilliant header after an even more brilliant cross from Luis Suárez in the 19th minute.

Overall, Messi has only scored 29 headed goals in his career, representing only 3.25% of his total, but some of those goals have been memorable, such as his header in the 2009 Champions League final against Manchester United in Rome.
Inter Miami will meet Nashville again, and a win in the second match will guarantee passage to the next stage of the playoffs, while a defeat will mean a third match between the two Eastern Conference teams.
