Despite Andrey Lunin’s frustration at not participating in the Champions League final, he seems close to extending his contract with Real Madrid.
According to reports from the Italian media, Inter’s management contacted Lunin in recent days and offered him to join the Nerazzurri in the current summer Mercato.
Inter, the Italian League champion, is looking for a goalkeeper to succeed Yann Sommer as the Swiss advances in age, and after the brilliance of Lunin, he has become one of the options strongly on the table for Marotta’s management.
Inter had already contacted Lunin’s agent to find out his final decision, and the surprise was that the Ukrainian international refused to move to the Italian club despite his guaranteed place as first-choice goalkeeper at San Siro.
Lunin’s environment’s explanation for this refusal was that the goalkeeper decided to continue with Real Madrid, and in a matter of days, an extension of his contract for another three years will be announced.
The 25-year-old was promised that he would be Thibaut Courtois’ successor at the Santiago Bernabeu. He will also play a number of matches next season and will not be permanently confined to the bench.
