Pep Guardiola still has faith in Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, despite his recent goal drought.
Haaland played in City’s match against Leeds, where Guardiola’s team narrowly won 3-2 thanks to Phil Foden’s last-minute goal.
Haaland has now gone three games without scoring, and he needs just one more goal to reach 100 for City in the Premier League.
Guardiola was seen speaking with Haaland immediately after the match, appearing somewhat agitated, which many interpreted as a sign of recent tension between the two.
The manager responded, saying, “He’ll score his 100th goal in the next game. We just talked about rest.”
He added, “He has a big body and plays a lot of minutes. At these times, you need to be fresh. Rest isn’t just for the feet; there’s mental rest too.”
“It’s different with Foden or Jeremy Doku; they can get some rest. Erling is a big man, and we need him a lot,” he added.
Manchester City face Fulham next Tuesday in the 14th round of the English Premier League.
