The club clarified that the goalkeeper experienced pain in his right knee, with medical examinations revealing a bone edema that will not require surgery. His exact return date will depend on his recovery progress.

The injury occurred shortly before half-time when García slipped on a wet patch of grass while moving to collect a ball that had gone out of play, causing an unnatural twisting movement in his knee. Wojciech Szczęsny was brought on to replace him after the break.

Because the majority of his recovery period coincides with the upcoming international break, the Spanish keeper will only miss the match against Sevilla on September 19. He is provisionally expected to be available for the fixture against Getafe on October 10 if his recovery proceeds as planned.

García has featured in 7 official matches for Barcelona this season—6 in La Liga and 1 in the UEFA Champions League—accumulating 585 minutes of action. The 25-year-old shot-stopper has conceded 11 goals, kept two clean sheets, and recently reached the milestone of 50 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions.
