The seventh victory came in a commanding 7-2 win against Racing Santander, bringing their tally to six La Liga wins alongside a victory in their UEFA Champions League opening fixture.
The previous record stood at six wins, originally set in the 1929-1930 season under English manager James Bellamy, and later matched by Ljubiša Broćić in 1960-1961 and Ernesto Valverde in 2018-2019. During the 1960-1961 campaign, Barcelona won their opening four league matches and defeated Belgian side Lierse home and away in the European Cup preliminary round before the streak ended at six.
Flick’s side has complemented these results with remarkable attacking output, scoring 33 goals across the seven matches—28 in the league and five in Europe—averaging nearly five goals per game.
Barcelona also became the first Spanish team to score five or more goals in five of their opening seven matches of a single season, having netted five against Elche, Rayo Vallecano, Valencia, and Feyenoord, before putting seven past Racing Santander.
Barcelona currently tops the La Liga table with a maximum 18 points, three clear of Real Madrid. They also sit among the early leaders in the Champions League alongside Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich following Matchday 1.
To complete this opening run ahead of the international break, Barcelona must navigate an away fixture against Sevilla at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium on Saturday, September 19—the final hurdle before players head into the international window.
