The 26-year-old has previously been linked with a move to Barcelona and Ajax, and has also received interest from Hull City and Ipswich Town, in addition to Arab offers, most notably from the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, as well as his previous association with Saudi and Qatari clubs.

The newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” revealed that PSV Eindhoven made an official offer to Girona and began negotiations to complete the deal, making him the most likely destination for the player, although no final agreement has been reached yet.

The offer will not reach the €25 million penalty clause, but Girona is hoping to collect a large sum, benefiting from Ounahy’s international brilliance and the club’s need to sell after being relegated to the second division.

Ounahi joined Girona from Olympique de Marseille in the summer of 2025 for around €6 million, and signed a contract until 2030, before scoring 5 goals and assisting 2 goals in 24 La Liga matches.

Ounahi shone for the first time in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, when he participated in Morocco’s seven matches, including 6 starts, and played 568 minutes, contributing to the historic achievement of occupying fourth place despite not scoring or assisting goals.

Ounahi renewed his brilliance in the 2026 World Cup, playing 6 matches and scoring two goals in 438 minutes on Morocco’s way to the quarter-finals, raising his tally in both editions to 13 matches, 1006 minutes and two goals, figures that boosted his value before his approach to PSV Eindhoven.
