Pogba joined AS Monaco on June 28, 2025, on a free transfer, signing a two-year contract through June 2027 in an effort to rebuild his career after a prolonged absence from competitive football.

AS Monaco stated that the decision to part ways was made after both sides agreed that the sporting objectives set at the beginning of the partnership were only partially met, making it impractical to continue ahead of the upcoming campaign.

The World Cup winner struggled to make an impact due to recurring muscle injuries, which hindered his return to peak condition and prevented him from stringing together consecutive appearances.

During Monaco’s pre-season training camp in England, Pogba suffered another setback, experiencing left thigh pain during a practice session. Having played just 45 minutes in pre-season, his exit became increasingly inevitable.

Throughout the 2025–2026 season, Pogba made only 6 appearances for Monaco, totaling 115 minutes, with zero goals or assists, and missed out on UEFA Champions League action entirely.

Pogba’s career had previously stalled following a doping suspension when he tested positive for a banned substance after Juventus’s match against Udinese in September 2023. His initial four-year ban was later reduced to 18 months after it was established that the ingestion was unintentional.

Now a free agent, Pogba faces a pivotal moment in his career. He must decide whether to retire due to persistent injury problems or seek a new challenge—potentially in Major League Soccer (MLS), the Gulf region, or another French club. As of now, no official negotiations or confirmed destinations have been announced.
