Reports suggested a potential deal valued at €55 million, claiming that Rodri’s arrival could impact Gavi’s place in Barcelona’s starting XI.

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano explicitly denied these reports, confirming that the 22-year-old is not available for transfer. “Gavi will not leave Barcelona; it is completely impossible,” Romano stated, adding that the player is “very happy at Barcelona” and views Rodri’s arrival as positive news given the strong relationship between the two international teammates.

Romano explained that the Spanish international is not considering a move away and that Barcelona values him immensely. He noted that the club could initiate talks in the coming months regarding a new contract, with his current deal set to run through the summer of 2030.

Gavi joined La Masia in 2015 from Real Betis and made his first-team debut in 2021 at just 17 years and 24 days old. He went on to win both the Kopa Trophy and Golden Boy award in 2022, alongside La Liga and Spanish Super Cup titles with the club.

After suffering a serious knee injury (complete ACL tear and meniscus injury) while playing for Spain during the 2023–2024 season, Gavi endured nearly a year on the sidelines before returning against Sevilla in October 2024. Despite facing another meniscus injury that sidelined him for nearly another year, Gavi returned to feature in 12 matches last season, providing 5 assists across 611 minutes of action.
