Endrick’s future has once again taken center stage at Real Madrid, following days of speculation about the possibility of him leaving on loan again in search of more playing time.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the royal club’s officials held direct talks with the Brazilian forward’s representatives, in coordination with manager José Mourinho, to determine his status ahead of the new season.
The talks concluded with Real Madrid’s decision to close the door on Endrick’s departure and insist on retaining him in the squad, a decision approved by Mourinho before officially notifying the player and his representatives.
The Portuguese coach was clear with Endrick about the difficulty of him starting regularly, given the presence of Kylian Mbappé and the club’s signing of young Spaniard Carlos Espí, who is currently ahead of him in the pecking order for backup strikers.
The 20-year-old garnered interest from Roma and Aston Villa, with both clubs advancing in their negotiations to acquire him on loan. However, Real Madrid’s management halted the negotiations and decided to give him a new chance to prove himself at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Endrick will enter the new season facing fierce competition with Mbappé and Espí, with the possibility of utilizing him as an out-and-out striker or on the right wing, while the player has expressed his readiness to accept the challenge and fight for playing minutes.
Real Madrid has also confirmed the number 9 shirt for Endrick in the new season’s squad list, after the Brazilian forward started his first-team career wearing number 16, in a further sign of the club’s commitment to keeping him.
