The 23-year-old is a primary target for manager Andoni Iraola, who has spoken directly with the player and secured a preliminary agreement for a move to Anfield, though no club-to-club agreement has been reached with PSG yet.

Negotiations remain far from a conclusion due to a significant gap in valuations between the two sides, despite PSG opening the door to the player’s departure after previously insisting he was not for sale.

According to French newspaper L’Équipe, Liverpool are preparing a proposal worth approximately €115 million. However, the French champions are expected to reject the offer, as PSG are demanding upwards of €150 million excluding performance-related add-ons.

PSG’s stance shifted after Barcola rejected a contract extension beyond his current deal, which runs until the summer of 2028, giving Liverpool hope of reaching an agreement in the final weeks of the summer transfer window.

The French international joined PSG from Lyon for approximately €45 million in the summer of 2023, recording 39 goals and 37 assists across 152 appearances for the club.

Should PSG hold firm on their financial demands, Liverpool will need to significantly increase their offer to seal the transfer, which could become one of the most expensive signings in the Premier League club’s history.
