Celtic have reached an agreement in principle with Real Oviedo to sign Egyptian winger Haissem Hassan, bringing the 24-year-old to the brink of a new chapter in the Scottish Premiership.
The Scottish champions intensified their pursuit of Hassan following consistent monitoring, with their interest surging after his standout performances for the Egypt national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Hassan joined Oviedo in the summer of 2024, helping secure promotion to La Liga with 4 goals and 3 assists. He subsequently made 37 La Liga appearances during the following campaign, providing 3 assists before Oviedo suffered relegation back to the Segunda División.
Reports indicate the overall transfer package could reach approximately £9 million including performance-related add-ons, with the guaranteed base fee structured near £6 million. Villarreal are set to receive a sell-on percentage as part of their prior agreement with Oviedo.
The Egyptian winger developed through the youth ranks in France with Châteauroux before joining Villarreal. He completed loan spells in Spain’s second tier with Mirandés and Sporting Gijón before settling at Oviedo, where he established himself as a primary focal point in attack.
