CD Leganés are on the verge of securing the signature of Algerian goalkeeper Luca Zidane from Granada CF to reinforce their squad ahead of the new Spanish Segunda División campaign.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, an agreement between all involved parties is nearly finalized, with only the formal signing of contracts remaining. The transfer will involve a nominal fee supplemented by performance-based add-ons tied to appearance milestones and individual achievements.
The 28-year-old shot-stopper has spent his entire career in Spain, progressing through Real Madrid’s youth academy—where he made just two senior La Liga appearances—before featuring for Racing Santander, Rayo Vallecano, SD Eibar, and Granada.
Zidane has struggled to cement his position as a top-flight keeper in Spain, spending the bulk of his professional career in the second tier. His spell with Granada proved inconsistent, as he conceded 33 goals across 27 appearances without delivering the week-in, week-out stability the Andalusian club envisioned.
On the international stage, Zidane represented France across various youth setups before committing his international future to Algeria, making his debut for the Desert Warriors against Uganda in October 2025.
Despite securing starting opportunities for Algeria, his international performances have been mixed—highlighted by a challenging outing against Argentina at the 2026 FIFA World Cup—leaving him yet to fully establish himself at the international level.
