Real Madrid has finally ended the long-standing speculation surrounding the future of Vinicius Junior by announcing a long-term contract extension that keeps the Brazilian star at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The agreement comes after an exhausting year-and-a-half of negotiations, which featured a notable disagreement over salary terms. Real Madrid’s board moved decisively to finalize the deal as Vinicius approached the final year of his previous contract.
Arsenal’s aggressive entry into the race also accelerated negotiations. The English club was reportedly willing to meet the player’s financial demands and offer Real Madrid around €150 million. However, Vinicius’ primary desire remained to stay with the royal club.
Vinicius Junior’s New Real Madrid Contract Details
Real Madrid confirmed that Vinicius has signed an extension running until June 30, 2032, securing the Brazilian winger for an additional six years and closing the door on a potential free transfer in the summer of 2027.
While the club did not disclose the financial figures, Spanish newspaper AS reported that Vinicius’ new net salary will be close to €24 million per season, slightly below his initial demand of €30 million.
Real Madrid had previously tabled an offer of roughly €22 million annually before improving the terms during a decisive meeting with the player’s representatives. Despite the raise, his wages remain below those of his teammate Kylian Mbappé.
