Barcola, 23, has informed PSG management of his decision not to extend his current contract, which expires in June 2028. Open to a new challenge, the French champion is prepared to entertain offers that meet their financial valuation.

Liverpool Submit Substantial Opening Offer

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Liverpool submitted an opening bid exceeding €100 million for the forward.

The offer underscores Liverpool’s commitment to securing Barcola, who has reportedly prioritized a move to Anfield and expressed enthusiasm for the club’s project.

If completed for over €100 million, the transfer would place Barcola among the top three most expensive signings in Liverpool’s history, surpassing the acquisition of Hugo Ekitike, which totaled around €95 million including add-ons. Alexander Isak remains Liverpool’s record signing following his move from Newcastle for approximately €150 million, followed by Florian Wirtz, whose transfer from Bayer Leverkusen could reach €125 million.

PSG Reject Initial Bid, Holding Out for €170 Million

PSG have rejected Liverpool’s opening proposal, holding out for a €170 million fee to allow the winger to depart this summer.

Liverpool executives view PSG’s valuation as excessive, particularly given the player’s refusal to sign an extension and his preference for Anfield. Consequently, the Merseyside club does not intend to meet the current asking price.

Despite the initial rejection, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that official negotiations between the two clubs commenced on Monday. Liverpool hope their opening offer serves as a starting point for further negotiations, with options to restructure the deal through performance-related add-ons.

While PSG remain open to selling Barcola to capitalize on Premier League market values, Liverpool are relying on the player’s preference to help bridge the valuation gap.
