Real Madrid have officially entered the race to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, submitting their first formal offer for the Ivorian sensation in the current summer transfer window.
According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid’s proposal was valued at €100 million (€90 million fixed fee plus €10 million in add-ons). However, RB Leipzig rejected the offer, demanding well over €100 million. German outlets report that the Bundesliga side is holding out for a package close to €120 million.
Direct club-to-club talks kicked off this week alongside ongoing negotiations with Diomande’s representatives. Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain have maintained contact for weeks; while PSG have made progress on personal terms with the player, they are yet to reach a transfer agreement with Leipzig.
The 19-year-old winger enjoyed a breakout campaign after joining Leipzig from Leganés for around €20 million in the summer of 2025. Diomande bagged 13 goals and provided 10 assists across 36 appearances in all competitions. In the Bundesliga alone, he recorded 12 goals and 8 assists in 33 games, earning the prestigious Rookie of the Season award.
Attack Overcrowding at Real Madrid
If completed, Diomande’s blockbuster signing will drastically escalate competition in Real Madrid’s forward line, which already features Kylian Mbappé, Vinícius Júnior, Rodrygo, and Brahim Díaz, along with Arda Güler and Bernardo Silva who can also operate in advanced roles.
Rodrygo could be among the most impacted by the Ivorian’s arrival. The Brazilian forward is currently on the long road to recovery following surgery for a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and lateral meniscus tear in his right knee. He will require consistent playing time to regain match fitness and secure his spot in José Mourinho’s plans.
Furthermore, negotiations for Diomande come at a time when Vinícius Júnior’s future remains uncertain. The Brazilian star’s contract expires in June 2027, and renewal talks have stalled due to ongoing financial disagreements. While Real Madrid’s move for Diomande does not explicitly mean a decision has been made to sell Vinícius or Rodrygo, it strongly hints at the potential departure of at least one major forward this transfer window.
Real Madrid are enduring a highly active summer transfer window, having already completed the signings of Marc Cucurella, Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konaté, and Bernardo Silva. Los Blancos also maintain a keen interest in Manchester City midfielder Rodri. Reports suggest ongoing efforts to convince the Spanish international to move to the Santiago Bernabéu, though Manchester City maintain they have yet to receive an official bid or direct contact from the Spanish giants.
