Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal has initiated preliminary contacts with the representatives of Paris Saint-Germain star Ousmane Dembélé to assess his interest in a potential transfer during the current summer transfer window.
According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Al-Hilal’s management is seeking to gauge the French winger’s willingness to make the move, as well as his personal and financial demands for a potential agreement.
Al-Hilal’s strategy centers on securing the Ballon d’Or winner’s initial approval before approaching PSG with a formal bid, meaning negotiations remain strictly in an exploratory phase. No official offer has been submitted to the French champions yet, aligning with statements from a senior Saudi official who denied similar rumors last June.
Contract Extension Standoff at Parc des Princes
The Saudi approach comes at a critical time as PSG continues negotiations with Dembélé’s camp to extend his contract beyond June 2028. However, talks have hit a standstill. Reports in France indicate the 29-year-old’s representatives are demanding a significant salary increase—up to €60 million annually, more than double his current wages at the Parc des Princes.
PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi previously reiterated the club’s desire to retain Dembélé while stressing the importance of wage structure discipline, describing Dembélé as a club icon while emphasizing that “the club always comes first.”
For his part, Dembélé stated ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup that he feels happy in Paris and is open to staying, noting that contract discussions are handled directly by his agent.
Dembélé joined PSG from Barcelona in 2023 and went on to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or and The Best FIFA Men’s Player award. He recently starred at the 2026 World Cup, scoring 6 goals and providing 2 assists for France.
