Jose Mourinho has begun shaping Real Madrid’s squad for the upcoming season by making initial decisions regarding the futures of several young players at the club.
According to journalist Arancha Rodríguez from COPE, both Raúl Asencio and Franco Mastantuono are expected to leave Real Madrid on loan during the summer transfer window. The club is keen to provide the duo with regular playing time elsewhere, rather than keeping them in limited roles amidst intense squad competition under Mourinho.
While Asencio was eager to stay and fight for his place, the surplus of options at center-back makes a loan spell the most likely outcome. This follows a direct meeting with Mourinho, where the Portuguese manager explicitly informed the defender that he would not be relying on him for the new campaign.
Real Madrid retain full confidence in Mastantuono’s talent and prefer a temporary departure over a permanent sale, hoping the Argentine prospect secures the minutes needed to further his development.
Conversely, Mourinho has decided to keep Gonzalo García with the first team. The Portuguese boss views the academy graduate as the primary natural striker currently available in his squad. Gonzalo is set to get his opportunity during pre-season fixtures before his final role alongside Kylian Mbappé and Endrick in attack is determined.
So far, Real Madrid have bolstered their ranks with four confirmed summer signings, securing Marc Cucurella, Denzel Dumfries, and Ibrahima Konaté to reinforce the defense, alongside Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva.
