Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has entered the race to sign Barcelona forward Ferran Torres during the current summer transfer window, acting on the specific request of manager Luis Enrique.
Following the departure of Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos to AC Milan in a €70 million deal, Enrique views Ferran Torres as the ideal profile to reinforce the Parisian attack.
Torres’s current contract with Barcelona expires at the end of next season. With no concrete renewal talks taking place over the past few months, the door is wide open for the Spanish international’s imminent departure.
Player’s Stance: According to Sky Sports, the 27-year-old has given an initial green light to the PSG project. However, he has not made a definitive decision, as staying at Barcelona remains an option if a satisfactory contract extension is offered.
Barcelona’s board, led by Joan Laporta, is fully aware of PSG’s concrete interest. The club is scheduled to hold crucial talks with the player’s agent in the coming days to determine his future. Blaugrana management will not block a transfer provided they receive a substantial financial offer.
Furthermore, competition for places in Barcelona’s frontline has drastically increased following the signings of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, alongside the club’s push to replace Robert Lewandowski with Julián Álvarez. This lack of guaranteed playing time could ultimately push Torres to seal a move away from Camp Nou.
A major driving factor behind the potential move is Ferran Torres’s close relationship with Luis Enrique, stemming from their time together with the Spanish national team. The prospect of reuniting at the Parc des Princes, combined with a higher salary and PSG’s highly ambitious sporting project, makes Paris an incredibly attractive destination for the forward.
