Blaugrana had already kicked off their summer business by securing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United in a blockbuster €80 million deal. The club also attempted to negotiate a sensational return for Marcus Rashford from Manchester United, though those talks ultimately collapsed.

Manager Hansi Flick personally recommended the signing of Adeyemi. With the player’s contract at Borussia Dortmund set to expire at the end of next season, Flick viewed him as a market priority due to his explosive pace, technical skill, and versatility across all attacking positions.

According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, personal terms between Barcelona and Adeyemi were swiftly agreed upon before negotiations between the two clubs advanced rapidly without any major hurdles.

The financial package to sign the former Red Bull Salzburg attacker will cost Barcelona €22 million as a fixed transfer fee, alongside an additional €7 million in performance-related add-ons.

Spanish media outlets indicate that the arrival of Adeyemi does not mean Barcelona will abandon their pursuit of Atletico Madrid forward Julián Álvarez. Instead, the German is viewed as a complementary piece to strengthen the frontline.

Barcelona will continue their relentless pursuit of Álvarez. While negotiations have temporarily cooled down due to the forward’s participation in the 2026 World Cup with Argentina, talks are highly expected to intensify during August.
