Barcelona have made an official offer to sign Borussia Dortmund’s versatile forward Karim Adeyemi as part of their ongoing efforts to reinforce their frontline for the upcoming season.
The 24-year-old forward’s contract with the Bundesliga side is set to expire in 2027. Barça are highly optimistic that the adaptable attacker will be allowed to leave for a cut-price fee during this summer transfer window.
While Barcelona have already reached a loose agreement with Adeyemi over personal terms, negotiations with Dortmund remain ongoing. Spanish media outlets report that the deal is “not imminent” and “nothing has been signed yet.”
Separate Search for a New No. 9 and Transfer Fees
The Catalan giants’ pursuit of Adeyemi is completely independent of their ongoing search for a new star striker (No. 9), with Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez remaining the club’s ultimate top target.
Reports suggest that Barcelona’s initial bid to Dortmund for the remaining year of Adeyemi’s contract is valued at just €20 million. On the other hand, the German club hopes to secure at least €30 million for the player, with active negotiations currently taking place between both boards.
Versatility in the Frontline and Adeyemi’s Stats
Adeyemi, who can comfortably play across any position in the front line, is expected to provide much-needed depth. His profile offers a dynamic alternative to the likes of Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Barça’s new signing, Anthony Gordon.
After initially making a name for himself at Red Bull Salzburg, Adeyemi joined Borussia Dortmund in 2022, where he spent the last four seasons. In his 146 appearances for the German outfit, he has netted 36 goals, including 10 goals in 39 outings across all competitions last season.
