Bruno Guimaraes missed a golden opportunity to give Brazil an early lead against Norway just 13 minutes into the match.
The Seleção were awarded a penalty in the 12th minute after a VAR review confirmed a foul on forward Matheus Cunha inside the box.
Guimaraes stepped up to take the spot-kick, but his somewhat careless effort was brilliantly saved by Norwegian goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland.
Historical Penalty Stats for Brazil
This marked the first-ever penalty conceded by Norway in World Cup history. Meanwhile, Guimaraes became the first Brazilian player to miss a penalty in the tournament since the legendary Zico famously missed against France in the 1986 edition.
In general, Brazil has only missed 4 penalties throughout their historical and continuous participation in the World Cup from 1930 to the present day.
