One Last Step Separates Jurgen Klopp from Becoming Germany Head Coach

Jurgen Klopp has reached a verbal agreement with the German Football Association (DFB) to take over as the head coach of the Germany national team, succeeding Julian Nagelsmann, who recently resigned. The contract is set to run until the 2030 World Cup.

The former Liverpool manager has reportedly greenlit the move, expressing immense enthusiasm for leading Die Mannschaft. However, he remains legally bound to his current contract with Red Bull.

According to Germany’s Sky Sport, Klopp has already discussed personal terms with the DFB. The federation is prepared to grant him extensive powers to overhaul the national team structure and guide German football back to global success.

Red Bull Negotiations Pending

The only remaining obstacle to making Klopp’s appointment official is reaching an agreement with Red Bull to terminate his contract.

DFB officials are scheduled to meet with Red Bull executives in the coming days. The energy drink giant is expected to demand financial compensation before releasing Klopp from his high-profile role as Head of Global Soccer.

Meanwhile, a DFB delegation—led by President Bernd Neuendorf and DFL Chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke—is traveling to New York to meet with Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke. This meeting will be immediately followed by formal talks with Red Bull to finalize the deal.

It is worth noting that when Red Bull initially hired Klopp, management promised they would not stand in his way if the Germany job became available. Consequently, reaching a full agreement between all parties is widely considered just a matter of time.
