Real Madrid have officially confirmed the signing of Dutch defender Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan after triggering the €20 million release clause in his contract.
The experienced right-back joins Los Blancos on a four-year deal and is set to compete directly with Trent Alexander-Arnold, as manager Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.
In an official statement released on Sunday, the club announced:
“Real Madrid C.F. and Inter Milan have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Denzel Dumfries, who will be linked to our club for the next four seasons, until June 30, 2030.”
Competition for Alexander-Arnold
Following the expiry of Dani Carvajal’s contract, Alexander-Arnold had been the only recognized senior right-back available in the first-team squad. Dumfries now arrives to provide much-needed competition and depth in that position.
The Netherlands international is the latest arrival in what is turning out to be a highly active summer transfer window for Real Madrid. Los Blancos have significantly reinforced Mourinho’s squad, with Dumfries joining other major signings including Ibrahima Konate, Bernardo Silva, and Marc Cucurella.
