Real Madrid have reportedly decided to activate the buyback clause in Nico Paz’s contract with Como for €6 million. However, the Spanish giants intend to immediately put the midfielder up for sale for a hefty fee during the current summer transfer window.
Florentino Perez Seeks Immediate Economic Profit From Nico Paz
While Nico Paz’s clear desire was to stay with Como for another season before returning to play a key role at Real Madrid, the club’s management has other plans. President Florentino Perez is looking to generate immediate financial profit to fund his massive squad rebuilding project.
Reports indicate that Real Madrid offered Como a “special deal”: triggering the €6 million buyback clause, only to sell him back to the Italian club for €60 million, giving them until next Monday to decide. However, Como are highly unlikely to proceed due to a lack of liquidity, meaning Paz’s return to Madrid is virtually guaranteed.
Inter Milan Emerges as Top Contender for Nico Paz Signing
According to Italian media, Inter Milan have emerged as the frontrunners to sign Nico Paz this summer. A €70 million move is currently being seriously considered by Beppe Marotta’s management. Inter are desperate to land a marquee signing to compensate manager Cristian Chivu and the fans after missing out on Marco Balestra.
Inter already have €50 million available in their transfer budget, which could be increased if necessary to finalize the deal. Furthermore, the strong relationship between the boards of Inter and Real Madrid could facilitate the transfer, with rumors suggesting a potential swap deal that would see Nico Paz join the Nerazzurri while Alessandro Bastoni moves to the Merengues.
