The Egyptian Premier League runners-up began their search for a new head coach following the departure of Krunoslav Jurčić, who stepped down after a highly successful three-year tenure with the club.

Renowned sports journalist Ahmed Shoubier confirmed that while talks took place between Pyramids FC and Regragui, both parties failed to reach an agreement regarding contractual terms, permanently closing the door on the deal.

Regragui’s Future: Europe or the Saudi Pro League?

The former Moroccan national team coach reportedly harbors ambitions of managing in Europe. He has recently been linked with several Ligue 1 clubs in France, though no concrete offers materialized.

Additionally, Regragui received multiple lucrative offers from the Saudi Pro League. He was notably tipped as the frontrunner to take over at Al-Ittihad, succeeding Sergio Conceição.

Regragui parted ways with the Moroccan national team last March, leaving behind a historic legacy that included a legendary fourth-place finish at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and reaching the final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Pyramids FC’s Next Move

With the Regragui chapter closed, Pyramids FC is now shifting its focus toward appointing a local manager to lead Mohanad Lasheen and his teammates next season. Ali Maher, the current manager of Modern Future (or Ceramica Cleopatra), has emerged as the leading candidate for the job.
