The Red Devils parted ways with their Danish manager at the end of last season following a string of negative results. The Cairo giants endured a rare trophyless campaign, finishing a disappointing third in the Egyptian Premier League.

After an extensive search, Al Ahly’s board settled on Ammouta—a seasoned expert in Arabic and African football—hoping he can steer the club back to its winning ways. The former Jordan national team manager has signed a two-year contract. He will bring an all-Moroccan backroom coaching staff, with the sole exception of Egyptian coach Yasser Radwan.

Houcine Ammouta’s Track Record of Success:

  • Continental Glory: He previously guided Morocco’s Wydad AC to the CAF Champions League title and the Moroccan League championship.

  • National Team Triumphs: He led Morocco to the African Nations Championship (CHAN) title in 2021.

  • Asian Achievements: Ammouta famously made history by leading Jordan to the 2023 AFC Asian Cup final. He recently managed UAE’s Al Jazira, guiding them to a League Cup triumph last season.
