Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC have officially announced the appointment of Moroccan tactician Houcine Ammouta as their new head coach, succeeding Denmark’s Jess Thorup.
The Red Devils parted ways with their Danish manager at the end of last season following a string of negative results. The Cairo giants endured a rare trophyless campaign, finishing a disappointing third in the Egyptian Premier League.
After an extensive search, Al Ahly’s board settled on Ammouta—a seasoned expert in Arabic and African football—hoping he can steer the club back to its winning ways. The former Jordan national team manager has signed a two-year contract. He will bring an all-Moroccan backroom coaching staff, with the sole exception of Egyptian coach Yasser Radwan.
