Iraola has established himself as one of the Premier League’s most highly-rated managers over the past three years, courtesy of his outstanding achievements and transformative style of play at Bournemouth.

A few months ago, Iraola announced his departure from the Cherries, prompting Bournemouth to appoint German manager Marco Rose as his successor.

Renowned transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that negotiations between Liverpool and Iraola were successfully finalized over the past few hours. The Basque coach is set to officially assume his duties starting next season.

Iraola will sign a three-year contract at Anfield. Crucially, he has been promised a significant say in the club’s summer transfer business—a move aimed at avoiding the internal friction that plagued Slot’s tenure last season.

The 43-year-old manager is determined to bring assistants Tommy Elphick and Shaun Cooper along with him as part of his backroom staff. This specific requirement is the main reason behind the delay in Liverpool’s official announcement.

Liverpool must first negotiate a compensation package with Bournemouth to release the coaching duo. The entire process is expected to conclude by the end of this week, after which the full coaching staff will be officially unveiled to the public.
