FC Barcelona have officially confirmed the acquisition of English forward Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United on a five-year contract.
According to British media outlets, the deal is valued at €80 million. The structure of the agreement includes a guaranteed €70 million fee, supplemented by €10 million in performance-related add-ons based on individual and collective milestones under manager Hansi Flick.
The Race for Gordon’s Signature
Gordon was reportedly on the verge of joining Bayern Munich before Barcelona intervened with a substantial late offer, securing the 25-year-old as their first major signing of the summer window. The England international traveled to Catalonia on Thursday for medical examinations before the club made the official announcement on Friday.

Speaking on his move to the Spotify Camp Nou, Gordon expressed his excitement:

Future Market Moves: Julián Álvarez and Marcus Rashford
With Gordon secured, Barça are now shifting focus toward finding a permanent successor for Robert Lewandowski, whose contract is expiring. Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez has emerged as the primary target.
Furthermore, the arrival of Gordon does not necessarily signal the end for Marcus Rashford at Barcelona. Sporting director Deco is reportedly keen on keeping the forward but aims to renegotiate the €30 million buy-out clause with Manchester United.
