According to Saudi media reports, the breakthrough came after a direct personal intervention from Cristiano Ronaldo, who played a pivotal role in persuading his compatriot to reconsider his departure.
Initially, the 70-year-old tactician had announced his intention to leave Al-Awwal Park following Al-Nassr’s triumphant 2025-26 Saudi Pro League campaign.
Jesus had stated he would satisfy himself with one golden year in Riyadh, but the club’s management refused to let the architect of their recent success walk away so easily.
The “Cristiano Factor” and a Record Salary Hike
The turning point occurred when Ronaldo, who shares a deep mutual respect with Jesus, joined the negotiations. The Portuguese superstar reportedly urged Jesus to stay, emphasizing that he is the cornerstone of the club’s long-term project and “irreplaceable” in the quest for more silverware.
Boosted by Ronaldo’s endorsement and a significantly doubled salary offer, Jesus has reportedly given his green light for a one-year extension.
