Saudi press reports have confirmed that Simone Inzaghi will remain the head coach of Al-Hilal, despite the “Blue Wave” missing out on the 2026 Saudi Pro League title. The club’s management has renewed its confidence in the Italian tactician, firmly believing he is the right man to lead the team back to major trophies next season.
A Commitment to Stability
The hierarchy at Al-Hilal views Inzaghi’s tenure as largely positive, considering the immense physical exhaustion caused by a congested fixture list across multiple competitions. Rather than entering a cycle of constant managerial changes, the Saudi officials are prioritizing technical stability as the cornerstone for future success.
Season Review: Highs and Lows
Inzaghi took charge of Al-Hilal shortly before the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, where he enjoyed an ideal start by reaching the quarter-finals in the United States. However, the current domestic season was marked by inconsistency. Remarkably, while Al-Hilal finished the league campaign undefeated, their high number of draws allowed their rivals, Al-Nassr, to secure the championship.
In the AFC Champions League Elite, Al-Hilal suffered a shock exit in the Round of 16 at the hands of Qatari side Al-Sadd. Despite these setbacks, Inzaghi did not end the season empty-handed, successfully clinching the Saudi King’s Cup after defeating Al-Kholood in the final.
