Heidenheim opened the scoring in the 22nd minute through Zvezvadze, who capitalized on a perfectly placed cross from Marnon Busch at the far post, leaving goalkeeper Jonas Orbig helpless.

Busch was involved again nine minutes later, setting up Eren Dinkci for the second goal. Dinkci broke free, rounded the Bayern goalkeeper, and slotted the ball into the empty net.

Before halftime, Leon Goretzka pulled one back for Heidenheim with a free kick that nestled into the top left corner. Then, on the hour mark, the German international leveled the score, heading home a corner kick from Olise.

In the 76th minute, Zvezvadze thought he had sealed the victory for the visitors after dribbling past Olise and unleashing a superb shot into the far corner, scoring the third goal.

However, the drama reached its peak when Olise’s shot rebounded off the post, struck the goalkeeper, and then into the net, ending the match in a draw and leaving Heidenheim to drop two valuable points in their fight against relegation.

Heidenheim now have 23 points, three points behind 16th-placed St. Pauli, the last team that can qualify for the relegation playoffs.

Bayern Munich had already secured the Bundesliga title two rounds ago, and this draw dashed Vincent Kompany’s hopes of achieving the best season in the club’s history and equaling Jupp Heynckes’ record of 91 points in the 2012-13 season.
