The Egyptian Professional Football League has decided to hold all matches of the penultimate round of the Egyptian Premier League title race simultaneously to ensure fair competition among the top three teams.
The Egyptian Premier League title race intensified after Al Ahly’s 3-0 victory over Zamalek on Friday, which followed Pyramids FC’s 3-2 win against Enppi at the Air Defense Stadium.
Zamalek and Pyramids FC are currently tied at the top of the league table with 50 points each (Zamalek holds the advantage in head-to-head matches), while Al Ahly sits in third place with 47 points.
With two rounds remaining and all possibilities still open, the league has decided that the best course of action is to hold all three teams’ matches simultaneously, thus increasing excitement and ensuring a level playing field.
Zamalek will face Smouha at Borg El Arab Stadium, Al Ahly will play Enppi at Cairo International Stadium, and Pyramids FC will meet Ceramica Cleopatra at the Suez Canal Authority Stadium in Ismailia.
These three matches are scheduled to be played at 5:00 PM next Tuesday.
It’s worth noting that the date for the final round is yet to be determined and will depend on the results of this round. If Zamalek officially secures the title (in the event of a win and losses for Pyramids and Al Ahly), only Zamalek’s final match might be postponed until after May 20th due to their participation in the Confederation Cup final. However, if the current standings remain unchanged, the final round will be played on the same day and at the same time.
