The 31-year-old’s contract with the Giallorossi expires at the end of this season, and Roma attempted to retain him, but no agreement was reached on an extension.

According to Argentine media reports, Dybala has finalized an agreement with Boca Juniors to join their ranks starting next July.

While Dybala is not a Boca Juniors academy graduate, he is a fan of the club. He felt that, given his age and the lack of attractive opportunities in Europe, it was best for him to return to his homeland after the 2026 World Cup and write a new chapter in his career.

Dybala spent 14 years in Italian football, starting his career with Palermo in 2012 after they bought him from Instituto for €11 million. He then moved to Juventus in 2015 before joining Roma on a free transfer in 2022.

Dybala has just recovered from a serious knee injury that required surgery last January and hopes to regain his form in order to earn a call-up from coach Lionel Scaloni for his third World Cup.
