The Liverpool legend left Al-Ettifaq in early 2016 after two years managing the Saudi club. Since then, he has worked as a pundit, away from the pressures of coaching.

Gerrard has never hidden his desire to return to coaching, and it seems the opportunity may present itself with Burnley.

The Turf Moor club is considering sacking manager Scott Parker after their relegation to the Championship, and Gerrard is the leading candidate to replace him, especially given his relatively good experience in British football.

Gerrard led Rangers to the Scottish Premiership title after years of absence, but his first Premier League experience with Aston Villa fell short of expectations and ended with his dismissal.

Gerrard wants to revive his coaching career in the UK and sees the Burnley job as the perfect opportunity to achieve this, so he is very open to accepting the offer.

However, Burnley’s management remains undecided. Some are calling for Parker to stay, who successfully guided the team back to the Premier League last season, while others are advocating for Craig Bellamy to take over.
