Barcelona secured a crucial 2-0 victory against Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez in Matchday 33 of La Liga 2026.
Real Madrid had stumbled to a draw against Real Betis on Friday at La Cartuja Stadium, and the Catalan club capitalized on this, bringing them within touch of securing the La Liga title early.
Getafe’s stadium had recently proven a major obstacle for Barcelona, as the Catalans hadn’t won there in seven years, drawing four times and suffering only one defeat.
But today, that curse was broken when Fermín López opened the scoring for Barça in the 45th minute, and Marcus Rashford sealed the win with a second goal in the 74th minute.

The gap between Barcelona and Real Madrid has now widened to 11 points, with only five matches remaining.
If Barça beat Osasuna in the next round, and Real Madrid draw or lose against Espanyol, they will be crowned La Liga champions before El Clásico on May 10th.
However, if both Barcelona and Real Madrid win, then El Clásico will be the deciding factor, and a draw would be enough for Hansi Flick’s team to secure their 29th La Liga title.
