The German coach’s comments came days after Barcelona’s Champions League quarter-final exit at the hands of Atlético Madrid, and ahead of a crucial La Liga match against Celta Vigo on Wednesday.

When asked about his aspirations with Barcelona in the coming years, Flick said, “My dream is to win the Champions League with Barcelona… We need to make the right decisions in the summer transfer market. The team is young and has enormous potential for further development.”

He added, “The elimination was very tough, but now our focus is on the league title. We’re close, but nothing is decided yet. We have a good points lead, and we must give our all.”

The 60-year-old’s contract with Barça expires in the summer of 2027, and negotiations are underway to extend his stay for another year. It seems Flick wants to continue with Barcelona beyond that.

In this regard, the former Bayern Munich coach said, “I would like to be the coach at this stadium (Camp Nou) when it is completed (in more than two years). I am very happy with how things are going here. Barcelona is like a second family, with an atmosphere of enthusiasm and energy.”

Flick has led Barcelona to four titles so far, winning La Liga and the Copa del Rey last year, along with two Spanish Super Cups. He is close to securing his second La Liga title this season.

The German previously won the Champions League title while managing Bayern Munich in the 2019-20 season, the same season in which the Bavarian giants achieved their first-ever sextuple.
