Real Madrid trails La Liga leaders Barcelona by seven points with seven games remaining, and they were also eliminated from the Champions League after a 6-4 aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals.

Ahead of Tuesday’s match against Alavés, Arbeloa was asked about the trophyless season and replied, “Two seasons without a win? I think the last time this happened was 20 years ago. Real Madrid is a club where things usually go well.”

He continued, “It’s true that there are times when things don’t go as planned, but the mentality of this club is always to look ahead. We understand the demands of this club, and we must always look to the future to achieve victory.”

He added, “We have to win our next seven La Liga matches, and after that, we’ll have to think about what we need to do best for what’s ahead.”

Regarding the Champions League being relatively easier for Real Madrid than La Liga, he continued, “I think we’ve performed better in the big games over the past few months compared to the matches against smaller clubs.”

He concluded, “If we’re talking about these last three months, we have a lot of room for improvement. But we’ve also faced situations, like our match against Girona, that make winning the Champions League easier for Real Madrid than winning La Liga.”

It’s worth noting that Real Madrid has won only seven La Liga titles in the last 20 years, compared to six Champions League titles in the last 12 years.
