There are still 15 rounds remaining in the Moroccan league, with less than two months until the World Cup kicks off. The national team’s training camp is scheduled to begin no later than May 25th.

FIFA regulations prohibit league matches for national teams participating in the World Cup from being played during the same period, placing Morocco in a real predicament.

The Moroccan newspaper Al-Mountakhab reported that the remaining Moroccan league matches will be compressed to a schedule of one match every three days. These matches will continue even during the start of Mohamed Ouahabi’s training camp in preparation for the tournament, which is to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Initially, the Moroccan league will play 10 rounds before the World Cup, leaving 5 rounds remaining. These remaining rounds are scheduled to be played after the 2026 World Cup concludes.

This will create a real crisis in Morocco, as Moroccan league representatives must be sent to the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup before the World Cup, while the domestic league will still be unfinished.

The mechanism for determining continental qualifiers remains unclear, whether it will be based on the previous season’s results or the first round’s results.

MAS Fes currently leads the league standings with 31 points from 15 matches, just one point ahead of ASFAR, Wydad Casablanca, and Raja Casablanca.

ASFAR has a game in hand due to their participation in the CAF Champions League semi-finals.
