Real Madrid were knocked out of the Champions League quarter-finals by Bayern Munich, and just days before that, they lost to Mallorca and drew with Girona, widening the gap with La Liga leaders Barcelona to nine points.

Following Mbappé’s statements in which he vowed to return to winning ways soon, it was Bellingham’s turn to also express his disappointment with how things have been going lately at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The England international wrote to the Merengues fans on his Instagram account, commenting on the Champions League exit: “It wasn’t enough, but we fought bravely.”

He added, “Madridians, we know we let you down, but we will always be grateful for your support.”

“The good times you deserve will return. We have no choice but to finish this season as strongly as possible. Hala Madrid!” he concluded.

Real Madrid faces Deportivo Alavés on Sunday, and their chances of winning La Liga remain alive, although they will need a significant boost from Barcelona in the remaining six matches.
