The Swedish international suffered a hamstring fracture during the match against Tottenham on November 20th and has been sidelined ever since, undergoing surgery.

At the beginning of March, Isak gradually began participating in Liverpool training sessions, but manager Arne Slott preferred not to risk him until he had fully recovered.

The surprise came with Isak’s inclusion in the squad for the PSG match, alongside 20 other players, including Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, Frenchman Hugo Ekiteke, and German Florian Wirtz, indicating that he is now fully fit and ready to play again.

Isak is unlikely to start the match, but he remains a viable option on the Slot table to be brought on in the second half if needed. This would be a crucial step in preparing him to play a key role for Liverpool in the remainder of the season.

The 26-year-old has made five Champions League appearances for the Reds this season, but has yet to find the net.

Isak is the most expensive signing in Premier League history, with Liverpool paying €150 million to acquire him from Newcastle. However, injuries have hampered his progress at Anfield so far.

The Champions League represents Liverpool’s last chance to salvage their season, as they currently sit fifth in the Premier League and were knocked out of the FA Cup quarter-finals by Manchester City.
