Harry Kane was ruled out of England’s friendly against Japan on Tuesday evening due to a sudden injury.
The striker had featured in England’s first match against Uruguay during the March international break, a 1-1 draw.
Kane was also expected to play against Japan, but Thomas Tuchel decided to leave him out at the last minute.
The England national team said in an official statement: “Harry Kane was rested tonight as a precaution after picking up a minor problem in training, but he remains with the squad for further assessment.”
According to German media, Bayern Munich are concerned that the injury may be more serious than initially reported, and the player will undergo further tests on Wednesday upon his return to Germany.
The Bavarian giants are entering a crucial period of the season, with the Champions League taking center stage. They face Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu next Tuesday in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.
Bayern Munich will face Freiburg away in the Bundesliga next Saturday, and Harry Kane is likely to be rested for this match to prepare him for the clash against Real Madrid.
Kane has scored 48 goals and provided 5 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions this season.
