Sources told ESPN that Manchester United are close to reaching an agreement with defender Harry Maguire on a new contract.
Maguire’s current contract is set to expire in June, but negotiations between his representatives and the club have been described as “positive,” with both sides hoping to finalize the deal soon.
The new contract is likely to be for one year, until June 2027, with an option to extend for a further season, potentially keeping the England international at Old Trafford until June 2028.
This move would be a reward for Maguire, 33, who has become a key player in the team’s resurgence under manager Michael Carrick, despite interest from other Premier League clubs.
Maguire has started the last 10 matches, paving the way for his return to the England squad. He played the full 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw against Uruguay at Wembley last Friday.
Sources also stated that Manchester United are in talks with rising star Kobe Maino, whose contract still runs until 2028, but the club wants to aim to reward him with a new contract that reflects his status as an important first-team player.
